Orville Neely

With the recent release of Bad Sports’ second LP Kings of the Weekend and OBN III's debut in the span of just a few weeks, Austin-based artist/writer/producer Orville Neeley has been gaining more recognition than ever.

OBN III's consists of Jason Smith, Andrew Cashen, Graham Low, and Matt Hammer (formerly of Strange Boys), all of whom are longtime friends of Orville's. They released their first 7” titled “No Way to Rock and Roll” on Super Secret Records followed by two 7”s with Chicago label Tic Tac Totally in Spring of 2011. Orville plays drums in another Austin band called A Giant Dog with Andrew and Graham, and will be releasing an LP in late 2011. In constant need to stay busy, Orville also plays drums for James Arthur’s Manhunt and performs on and off with John Wesley Coleman III, where his work has been highly acclaimed amongst garage rock enthusiasts.

Before joining A Giant Dog and starting OBN III’s and Bad Sports (with Daniel Friend), Orville lived in Denton, Texas for five years wherein he played with several bands including Influence, Chief Death Rage, and the Pumpers. Since moving to Austin he has also recorded several local bands including the Creamers, Video, and is noted for recording and producing the Strange Boys “Nothing” EP and their debut album “And Girls Club” on In The Red.
