Sampha

Sampha produces music in his bedroom in leafy, suburban Morden, but it sounds beamed down from a billion light years away. His debut EP ‘Sundanza’, showcases six tracks of 8-bit soul, pixelated blues and binary boogie. It’s micro-robotic music: the sound of a million tiny machines buzzing and whirring their way into swarms of space age melody. Add to this mix the warmth and sincerity in 21-year-old Sampha’s singing voice- a voice from vintage soul, from crackling, careworn vinyl- and you have a collection of songs that fizz with future energy and real, human heart.
While developing his own material and live show, Sampha has busied himself contributing his vocal and production talents to the beguilingly beautiful ‘Valentine’ as well as teaming up with fellow London producer SBTRKT.
